Brady Quinn an Unknown, Exciting Commodity

Posted by Dustin Hockensmith

While the unknown is an exciting, sometimes-fruitful adventure in fantasy football, it remains exactly that - unknown. Second-year quarterback Brady Quinn is no exception, even if he is talented and relatively prepared to make his debut, which will come Thursday against Denver, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Fantasy owners, especially those who used a fifth-round draft pick on Derek Anderson, may not quite understand this move. After all, Anderson had been productive in the previous four weeks, throwing six touchdown passes to just one interception. But, he failed where it counted and was booed off the field in Sunday’s 37-27 loss to Baltimore.

Enter Quinn, who many presumed would get his chance by now. The 3-5 Browns still have a chance to salvage their season and maybe, just maybe a change under center will give them a much needed lift.

The Notre Dame grad enters a good situation to succeed, beginning this week against a struggling Broncos defense. He has two freakish athletes in Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow that give him margin for error on throws, a good offensive line, and a respectable ground game. All the pieces are in place.

And, while there will certainly be an adjustment period, Quinn is no stranger to pressure-filled environments. He played on national television, in front of 80,000 fans every week at Notre Dame, so he won’t be wide-eyed. His talent and experience should yield quality results, both in the short and long term.
