Week 3 Position Rankings: Tight Ends

As the NFL and the collective fantasy world gear up for Week 3 action, questions come to mind. Are two of the top seven statistical tight ends really Miami Dolphins? Did the Oakland Raiders really win by 15 points last week? Is Gus Frerotte the answer to the Vikings’ troubles? Will the Rams hold a team to under 35 points even once this season?

After a season-opening week of surprises and injuries, fantasy owners should be hitting waiver wires hard this week in an effort to add depth outside of the skill positions. This can be easily accomplished by making a few moves to pick up a tight end, defense or kicker, either to play a backup role or replace a struggling (or injured) starter.
 
Here are a couple of contributors that likely slipped through the cracks on draft day. They would make great additions to your bench and could add some depth to your squad for when the bye weeks start in Week 4. But, take heed by noting the “What to Watch For” line as it could provide some possible downside to these mid-week additions.  Read more »

Big Bertha’s Week 1 Hardware

Even though Week 1 isn’t quite in the books, it’s time to hand out some hardware for Sunday’s performances. And there were some big ones. Start in Atlanta, where newcomer and first-year starter Michael Turner torched the Lions for 220 yards in a 34-21 win, and in Pittsburgh were Willie Parker silenced some critics with 138 yards and three surprising rushing touchdowns.

It wasn’t all good, though, as you’ll see in our “Nightmare Squad” of Week 1 underachievers. Carson Palmer will be managing that offense after passing for just 99 yards in a 17-10 loss to the Ravens. Two suspended wideouts also make the list, as Brandon Marshall and Steve Smith watch from the sidelines and make zero fantasy contributions. Read more »
