Panic is setting isn’t quite setting into the New York Jets locker room, but it’s not far off. It was about 15 yards away - as in the winning TD toss to Laveranues Coles with a minute to play - on Sunday when New York went down to the wire against a hapless Chiefs team.

The Jets were able to overcome three Brett Favre interceptions and escape with a 28-24 home win.

With the win, New York improved to 4-3, but the moderate success has been more a product of the team’s schedule than its performance. The cushy schedule, which has included three wins over last-place teams Miami, Cincinnati and Kansas City, gives way to road contests against Buffalo, New England and Tennessee in the next four weeks. Lots of commotion today from ESPN.com and Fox 31 TV in Denver, who are reporting that between “six to ten” players have violated the league’s steroids policy. Only two names have been released thus far - Saints DE Will Smith and RB Deuce McAllister.

Obviously, the name of consequence in fantasy is that of McAllister. He filled the vacancy of injured RB Reggie Bush for roughly five days, then tested positive for the diuretic Bumetanide, according to Fox 31. If reports are true and McAllister does not successfully appeal, league rules dictate a four-game suspension for his first positive test. Read more »

The Week 8 DVR Report

Posted by Scott Uhing

Almost at the halfway point of the 2008 NFL season and we’ve had a lifetime’s worth of parity in just seven short weeks. Now three head coaches have been handed pink slips, the latest being Mike Nolan’s early exit out of San Francisco. Plenty more coaches remain on the hot seat, including Marvin Lewis, Rod Marinelli, and yes, even Wade Philips.

If you’re fortunate enough, be sure not to miss the overseas game between the Chargers and Saints played in London as well as quite possibly the biggest matchup of the year so far in the “Steel” city. Note to readers: DO NOT miss another Monday Night Football game this season!

It seems like every week on Monday night, viewers get a treat from the NFL. That gift has come in the form of three incredible primetime games in the past four weeks.

Last night’s Vikings-Saints contest went down to the final minutes and was settled by Ryan Longwell’s 30-yard field goal to give Minnesota a 30-27 win. Despite the offensive futility in the first half, it took only a few plays for this game to go from sloppy to downright thrilling. Read more »

Robert Meachem Justifies Sleeper Hype

Posted by Dustin Hockensmith

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Meachem had a dominant first preseason outing, catching four passes for 129 yards and a touchdown in the Saints’ 24-10 win over Arizona. Meachem, a first round pick who never got on the field as he battled a knee injury last season, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, proved worthy of the heat he’s getting as a preseason sleeper in fantasy drafts.

Meachem will likely start the season as the Saints No. 3 wide receiver, which would put him behind receivers Marques Colston and David Patten and tight end Jeremy Shockey in the pecking order for catches. But, as the season wears on and his physical gifts start to shine through, he can easily carve out a bigger niche in the Saints offense. Read more »
