Week 2 Position Rankings: QB, RB, WR

Road games make things interesting for quarterbacks this week. While a handful of friendly matchups exist among the position’s elite, facing road crowds can change their dynamic. With that fact in mind, there is no sure dominator this week, but a cast of 15 quarterbacks who could produce comparable stat lines.

Peyton Manning (knee), Drew Brees (missing top WR), Tony Romo (tough matchup) and Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) are among the quarterbacks who have questions to answer this week. The 2008 quarterback class will be headlined by familiar names, and there’s nothing to suggest that the top fantasy signal callers will be changing anytime soon. With a historic season from Tom Brady, the continued excellence of Peyton Manning, and the emergence of Tony Romo and Ben Roethlisberger as legitimate fantasy studs, the gap between the top of the class and the middle is as big as ever.

However, that’s not to say that owners who do not take a quarterback in the first four rounds will be starved of options. There are plenty of lower-ranked QBs with a high ceiling, such as Jay Cutler, Marc Bulger, and the newest Manning with a Super Bowl ring on his finger, Eli. As year-long fantasy enthusiasts start to keep tabs about who’s looking good for 2008, we take a look at ten quarterbacks not named Peyton or Tom and try to analyze their fantasy potential this fall.

Some of these quarterbacks will surely have a jump in value, while many more will slide after mediocre efforts in 2007. On a whole, the quarterback position took a beating in 2007, meaning that there is rebound value to be had at if owners are patient. Read more »
