The Fantasy NFL 101: Week 7 Player Rankings

Posted by Dustin Hockensmith

Time to shake it up.

No more standing by and watching top dogs Adrian Peterson and LaDainian Tomlinson get out-produced by the likes of Clinton Portis, Frank Gore and Marion Barber. That trio is no doubt a placeholder until A.P. and L.T. break out of their funks, but the body of work still deserves the recognition.

Philosophically, we’ll be treating this poll just like an AP Top 25 in college football. Just because a team keeps winning, it doesn’t mean it has chance after chance to retain the No. 1 ranking. Peterson was the equivalent of, say, Georgia eking past Alabama-Birmingham, Jacksonville State and Troy: while he technically didn’t lose a ton of ground, he didn’t gain any of it, either. Big Bertha’s Week 5 Hardware

Posted by Mike Bertha

The fifth week went in the books with a Ryan Longwell game-winning field goal Monday night and more hardware seems necessary to cap off another exciting week of NFL action. Regardless, every week owners are put to the test with the critical decisions in the flex spot that can determine the outcome of their matchups. If you have guys like RB Chris Perry going against the Browns’ suspect run defense or WR Ike Hilliard facing a banged up Green Bay secondary, feel comfortable putting them, among others, into the flex slot in Week 3. Flexing Your Muscles: Week 3 RB/WR Options

Posted by Anthony Oliva III

The ever-important “Flex” position doesn’t even exist in real life, but then again, that’s why they call it fantasy football. If lineup decisions weren’t hard enough between just one position, the flex option is even harder because it forces you to choose from your secondary options at RB and WR.

Every week, owners are put to the test with the critical decisions that can determine the outcome of your game. This week, if you have guys like Fred Taylor going against the Colts’ suspect run defense or Roddy White facing Kansas City’s inexperienced secondary, feel comfortable putting them, among others, into the flex slot.
