Week 3 likely left many fantasy owners fretting about the next couple weeks in regards to the “bottom of their order”. Jeremy Shockey (sports hernia) is M.I.A. for the next 4-to-6 weeks, Jason Witten missed the end zone for the third straight game, the Pats D might as well have sat out a 38-13 loss to Miami, and the immortal Adam Vinatieri has just three field goals this season.

But fear not. With the bye weeks looming ahead in this weekend’s forecast, here are some suggestions on how to stay dry when injuries, draft busts, and inconsistent performances threaten to rain out a Week 4 victory. Be sure to act fast; with players dropping due to injuries, teams taking the week off, and owners giving up on current starters, these guys won’t stick around on waivers much longer. Read more »

Week 3 Position Rankings: Tight Ends

As the NFL and the collective fantasy world gear up for Week 3 action, questions come to mind. Are two of the top seven statistical tight ends really Miami Dolphins? Did the Oakland Raiders really win by 15 points last week? Is Gus Frerotte the answer to the Vikings’ troubles? Will the Rams hold a team to under 35 points even once this season?

Following Week 2, many fantasy owners are looking for ways to compensate for the fact that they have Jeremy Shockey, Shayne Graham, and the Chargers D/ST in their starting lineups. If your ‘08 draftees are proving to be big time busts, be sure to pick up some of these possible solutions before setting your roster for Week 3.

Match-ups are key this week. We’ve seen these teams play twice now and are able to start to suspect which defenses are like practice squads and which offenses will be sure to botch red zone opportunities and set their kickers up for chip shots. Read more »

After a season-opening week of surprises and injuries, fantasy owners should be hitting waiver wires hard this week in an effort to add depth outside of the skill positions. This can be easily accomplished by making a few moves to pick up a tight end, defense or kicker, either to play a backup role or replace a struggling (or injured) starter.
 
Here are a couple of contributors that likely slipped through the cracks on draft day. They would make great additions to your bench and could add some depth to your squad for when the bye weeks start in Week 4.
